| As Chinese-trained physician Dr. David Eisenberg observes: | We in the
Western world invented the notion that [biology] and [physics] and
[psychology] and [psychiatry] are separate. If we want to deal with
health, and we're looking only at the chemistry or the emotional state, we
have an imperfect glimpse. The patient sitting before me brings with him
or her not only chemistry, but also family, relationships, emotions, and
character. The distinctions we bring to a hospital in terms of mind and
body are abstractions that we make. The patient is still a whole person,
and to help him or her get better, ideally we would deal with all of these
aspects -- the balance of a person's life.

The human essence is a wondrous thing. Anyone can heal. Anyone can learn to administer energies that facilitate the healing process. The amount of healing energy available to each of us is limited solely by our capacity to give love and respect to ourselves and others. |

| Part of what we must learn is that there is a divine spark within us. We are here to learn how to make life right, make our body healthy, make our mind well. |
Feng shui is not a manual to replace orthodox medicine. They are simply descriptions of energy applications that have been tried and found to have elicited results. True of working with alternative and holistic healing traditions open our awareness of how we operate on more than just a physical level.

| In the
traditional ba-gua the center of the house (or room) is occupied by the
self (the pyramid school translates that as health and wellness). Both
self and health could be said to be the center of our lives. A home or
room without the center is like a body without a heart. First make sure
the heart of each room supports the activity of the place. Then be sure
the center of the space has a clear vista to help propel the occupants
toward life-sustaining activities.
